Uncanny Light?
This is an image by Patrick Shanahan from Maria's Uncanny Aesthetics in Postmodern Culture (left) and one from my previous posting of Richard Box's Field. Is there an uncanny similarity here?
Hi Lynda, what is amazing about the similarities in these images is that I didnt actually know what Shanahan's work was like. I had only read an online essay without images. It was only when I wrote about the uncanniness of photography for the blog that I decided to source the pictures. Mx
Setting my own work in context with that of others throughout the ages and in different cultures.
An investigation of the use of light in art focusing on what I find most appealing, and trying to determine why that is.
βAt the root of all my art is drawing. Recently I have been making a series of abstract drawings based on rhythm and the idea of trace β leaving a subtle trace or mark.
βI am currently a postgraduate student on the MA Drawing As Process at Kingston University.β
