An investigation into the use of light in art from stained glass windows to fluorescent tubes

Finally some Richard Box images

For some reason I had great difficulty posting these - for detail info see the posting 3 down. Basically Richard Box has used ordinary fluorescent tubes to create light works - they absorb the electricity emitted by the wires on the pylons and glow.

Lynda,
I came across Box’s work on a TV prog. a while ago and was fascinated by the art/science collaboration. As Box’s collaborator (Professor Denis Henshaw) said " To have an artist make something about quite specific physics in an artistic way is inspiring to us." More details on Box’x website:

Lynda, have a look at my Blog. I used a digital drawing from last Semester of you...to combine electric fields & portriature, starting with your sparklers experiments!

Amazing work! It really reminded me of Andy Goldsworthy's land art yet it is created with man-made media. Brilliant.
